Fulton County officials say an Atlanta police officer is under investigation for drugs and child neglect.

Police report shows that the officer’s children were living in horrible conditions.

The report says the investigation started when officers responded to a child neglect call at their colleague’s apartment on Sept. 4.

Officer Christopher Maddox lives in the apartment off Hollywood Road with his two children.

Police say Maddox’s mother-in-law called police to the apartment saying she was conceed for her grandchildren.

Police say when they arrived, they found the 2 and 4-year-old children living in deplorable conditions with "human waste on the walls, windows and smeared on the carpet.

The apartment, they wrote, was "littered with dirty laundry and miscellaneous items including a bag containing Atlanta police riot gear."

A search of the home, the report reveals, tued up drug paraphealia including "a medium-sized glassine bag, commonly called a 'dime-bag,' containing a small amount of white residue on the bottom." It says similar bags were also found stashed throughout the apartment.

When reporters spoke with Maddox at his apartment, he denied knowledge of the investigation.

”I don't know anything about the investigation going right now, said Maddox.

An APD spokesman said Maddox was immediately put on paid leave and though his drug test came back negative, he will remain off-duty until the investigation is complete.

The children are staying with their grandmother, who initially called police.

Jaglois also leaed Maddox’s wife is under investigation, but no arrests have been made.
