Ancely Faye Green: Woman accused in Cobb County bank robbery denied bond

A mother of three accused of robbing a bank, and then leading police on a wild, high speed chase was denied bond by a Cobb County judge on Tuesday.

According to Dana Pierce with Cobb County police, 39-year-old Ancely Faye Green walked into the SunTrust Bank on Mars Hill Road around 11 a.m. and claimed she had an explosive device. They say she made off with $425.

A police chase then ensued just before noon from Mars Hill Road to Macland Road, then west on Windy Hill Road to Interstate 75.

GDOT officials say speeds in the chase reached 120 mph. Police say the chase ended when the Green's vehicle overtued after it apparently hit a median near the Mount Paran Road exit at I-75. There were no injuries.

"The reasons she crashed were reasons of her own. She lost control of the vehicle," said Officer Mike Bowman of the Cobb County Police Department.

A bomb squad examined the overtued vehicle and apparently did not find an explosive device inside. Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol examined the wreck and pulled cash from the vehicle, according to FOX 5's Kaitlyn Pratt.

Green rented a house in a Dallas neighborhood for about five years. Neighbors say she lived there with her 91-year-old grandmother and three children. They say she was quiet, and mostly stayed to herself. They can't believe she is now charged with armed robbery.

Police say Green, of Dallas, Ga., was taken into custody. She is facing charges of armed robbery and is currently being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. She made her first court appearance early on Tuesday moing, and was denied bond. Her next court appearance is June 11.
