Alleged Publix shoplifter Dawn Marie Roberts arrested after Ga. 400 chase
Alpharetta police say they arrested the woman who allegedly shoplifted hundreds of dollars' worth of food from Publix.
A dash cam video shows officers surrounding the car with their guns drawn and taking the suspect Dawm Roberts into custody.
The incident happened on Oct. 15 at the location on Haynes Bridge Road. The loss prevention officer told police he witnessed Dawn Marie Roberts steal nearly $600 in groceries from the store. As the loss prevention officer confronted Roberts, police say she hit the officer with her car.
”She backed up the car, hit me and took off, said the loss prevention officer, who did not want to be identified.
Police say Roberts drove onto Hwy. 400 South where police began to chase her.
”Ms. Roberts fled the scene, went on 400 southbound. At that point, an Alpharetta police officer picked up her vehicle. He utilized lights and sirens to try to get her stopped for over a mile, said George Gordon of the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.
When they finally did stop Roberts, officers drew their guns and took her into custody.
”She was charged with fleeing and eluding, theft by over $500 and the aggravated assault charge for striking the loss prevention employee with her vehicle, Gordon said.
Roberts later bonded out of jail but is due in court later this week.
