Albany - Police searched Thursday for gunmen they believed were heavily armed after an Albany State University student was killed in the south Georgia city

Officers armed with shotguns on Thursday searched areas near the Hidden Oaks apartment complex on Mock Road.

Police say 20-year-old Bruce Mullen of Macon was shot at the apartment complex early Thursday moing and later died at a hospital.

Police said they were searching for suspects who are believed to be armed with handguns and an AK 47 semi-automatic weapon.

The Albany Herald reported that Mullen was a student at Albany State University.

The Telegraph of Macon reported that Mullen is the son of Macon Northeast High School Football Coach Bruce Mullen.
