Albany Mom Deanna Hammond Accused Of Throwing Baby's Body In Trash
ALBANY, Ga. - Authorities say a south Georgia mother is facing charges after they say she concealed her baby's death by throwing the infant's body into a trash can.
The Albany Herald reports that 20-year-old Deanna Hammond was arrested Tuesday night by Albany police.
District Attoey Greg Edwards said that in addition to being charged with concealing the death, Hammond faces an additional charge of throwing away or abandonment of a dead body.
Edwards said investigators believe Hammond threw the baby in the trash can before her mother called 911 for emergency medical help.
Edwards said an autopsy was being done to determine how and when the baby died.
