Addison Elementary Principal Jill Spiva resigns following DUI arrest
COBB COUNTY, Ga. – A Cobb County elementary school principal has resigned months after being arrested on charges of driving under the influence, district officials confirmed Tuesday.
According to the Cobb County School District, Jill Spiva stepped down from her position as principal of Addison Elementary School.
Spiva’s resignation follows her January arrest on DUI and other traffic-related charges. Authorities said she was involved in a crash while intoxicated. Police reports indicate officers found a half-empty bottle of Smirnoff vodka inside a white paper bag in her vehicle.
Spiva had served as principal of Addison Elementary School for four years prior to her resignation. Before that, she worked as an assistant principal at other schools within the Cobb County district.
In a statement, the district said:
“We can confirm that Jill Spiva resigned from her position as principal of Addison Elementary School. Our focus remains on what is best for our students, and we are moving forward to ensure continued stability and success for the Addison community.”
The school’s website lists Brett Ward as the interim principal as the district works to maintain leadership continuity at Addison Elementary.
