A 5-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a pickup truck Saturday evening in downtown Carrollton.

Carrollton police say that the boy was with his parents crossing the street on Newnan Street near Adamson Square when he was hit. The family had just picked up a pizza at a local establish.

The driver of the red Ford F-150 pickup stopped and cooperated with police in the investigation. Police say they will likely not charge the driver.
