3 missing Georgia children found safe in Los Angeles
Three children from Georgia were found unharmed Wednesday in Los Angeles after last being seen two days ago at a skid row homeless shelter, authorities said.
Califoia Highway Patrol officers stopped a red Ford van about 10:30 a.m. on the Santa Monica Freeway near Crenshaw Boulevard and found the children inside, said LAPD Sg. Alfredo Reyes.
The van was previously described as being driven by the children’s mother.
The children, Michelle Hogan, 11; Jonathan Hogan, 4; and Jasmine Hogan, 3, were taken to the Los Angeles Police Department's Wilshire station, along with their mother, Carolyn Hogan, 28, for questioning, Reyes said.
”Right now, we’re just trying to figure out what’s going on, he said.
Hogan and her children were last seen Monday night at the Union Rescue Mission on San Pedro Street in downtown Los Angeles, police said.
Georgia authorities had asked the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to hold the children in protective custody until they could be taken back to Georgia, if they were found. It was unclear if that would happen.
It was also unclear why Hogan and her children left Greensboro, Ga. for Los Angeles.
