3 arrested following theft of multi-million dollar shipment of hydrocodone pills

Three people have been arrested in connection to the theft of a multi-million dollar shipment of hydrocodone pills from a truck stop in Bartow County, says The Georgia Bureau of Investigation

Investigators say three men followed a truck driver from the Pilot Travel Center in Cartersville back in July 2014 and eventually stole the truck and trailer. Police say the truck contained a shipment of hydrocodone that was being taken through Georgia on I-75.

When police tried to stop the truck, they say the driver led them in a pursuit and eventually abandoned the cargo and fled on foot.

Filipe Cruz was arrested in Colorado on Thursday, while Yosvani Cordero and Yoandy Machado were already in custody in Dalton on unrelated cargo theft charges, according to authorities.

All three suspects are being charged with three counts of cargo theft, trafficking in controlled substances, fleeing and attempting to elude police and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

Police say they believe more people were involved and plan to make more arrests.
