Cobb County police are investigating the death of a woman who opened the door of a moving vehicle and fell out of it early Saturday moing.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle, Francisco Maldonado, 19, has not been charged. Maldonado said he was driving his black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe shortly after midnight on Bridgehampton Road in Marietta when Brenda Arreguin, 24, suddenly opened the passenger door and exited the vehicle while it was still moving.

Arreguin was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, but did not survive.

Police aren't saying what led to Arreguin exiting the vehicle and have not indicated how fast the car was moving when the incident happened or if Maldonado will face charges.

This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. Unit at (770) 499-3987.
