Zombies take over Cobb office park
"The Walking Dead" is entering its second season on AMC. Most of the actors who play zombies in the series are hired locally. About 160 actors were hired to be involved in shooting Monday’s scenes.

Zombies took over a Cobb County office park Monday, as filming of the hit AMC series ”The Walking Dead moved into the Vinings area.

Cobb County police blocked access from Cobb Parkway onto Riverwood Parkway at 5 a.m. in preparation for the day’s filming.

An hour later, traffic was still moving smoothly on Cobb Parkway, with the only lane closure being the tuing lane onto Riverwood Parkway.

Inside the office park, at the intersection of Cobb Galleria Parkway and Professional Parkway, production assistants were busy at 6 a.m. spreading trash on the road and moving wrecked cars in with forklifts.

Access to the area was expected to be restricted through 9 p.m. on Monday, according to a notice sent out last week by the company that manages the Riverwood 100 office building.

The building’s management also waed tenants that ”simulated gunfire will be taking place during the filming of these scenes as actors are confronted by a horde of zombies.

”The Walking Dead, which is filming its second season in and around Atlanta, is about a sheriff who wakes up in an empty hospital after weeks in a coma, finding himself alone after the world as he knows it was ravaged by a zombie epidemic.

The series shot scenes last week along Ga. 20 in southe Henry County.
