Worker Greg Royer Killed In Construction Accident
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Federal authorities are investigating how a pylon fell from an excavator, crushing and killing a worker building a tugboat dock in Savannah.
Savannah authorities have not yet released the name of the worker killed Friday moing. The accident also injured 50-year-old John Pugh, who was listed in critical condition at Memorial University Medical Center.
The Savannah Moing News reports that the incident happened at Crescent Towing and Moran Towing's shared dock on the Savannah River. The men both worked for Myrick Marine, which was building the dock.
Myrick Marine President Bob Myrick called it a "big tragedy."
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident. An OSHA spokeswoman did not retu a call seeking comment.
