Water Dept. Working Weekends to Handle Calls
ATLANTA, Ga. - Atlanta water employees say they are committed to solving customer complaints about high bills, and they are even pulling Sunday duty to accomplish it. With a new boss and the backing of the mayor-- who authorized the overtime-- water managers tell Georgia Newsday they are tuing the coer on the tide of complaints.
Hit with a barrage of complaints, the water department is making house calls on Saturdays and Sundays in an effort to try and catch up.
For the city of Atlanta, that’s extraordinary. A manager told Georgia Newsday he thinks the city has tued the coer on at least dealing with complaints, even if all the answers still haven’t been found as to why some bills skyrocketed.
Numbers provided by Atlanta Water show the call volume in September was 34,000 calls, and in October it came down to 27,000.
