Visitation to be Held For Slain Clayton County Deputy Richard "Rick" Daly
JONESBORO, Ga. - A public visitation is being held Wednesday for murdered Clayton County Sheriff's Deputy Richard "Rick" Daly.
The visitation started at 9 a.m. and will run until 9 p.m. at the Tara Garden Chapel on North Avenue in Jonesboro.
Deputy Daly was killed last week while assisting the sheriff's office fugitives squad serving an arrest warrant. Investigators say Deputy Daly was killed while conducting a traffic stop for undercover units at East Fayetteville and Walker Roads. Seventeen-year-old Veasna Jonathan Bun is charged in the crime.
Sgt. Kathy King of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office says the department is reeling from Daly's death.
Daly was the first Clayton County deputy to be killed in the line of duty. He is from Pike County. During his career, he worked for the Clayton County Police Department, the Pike County Sheriff's Office, and most recently the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
Many law enforcement officers from across the state and the nation are expected to attend his funeral Thursday afteoon at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.
Deputy Daly's family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Georgia Sheriff's Association Youth Homes Program .
