Two People Found Dead at Covington Home

A woman and her wheelchair-bound nephew were both shot to death this afteoon at a home near Covington, according to police.

The bodies were discovered at the Tempie Lane home by EMS workers responding to a medical alert into the 911 system around 9:30 a.m. When they arrived at the home, they saw a body through the window. They entered the home and found a man and woman dead of gunshot wounds.

According to family members, the victims are Peggy Molden, 66, and her nephew, Donald McCullough, 56.

Molden had lived at the home for a couple of years, taking care of McCullough, who was paralyzed.

”My mother was the sweetest kindest person you could ever meet. She was everybody's mom, everybody's everything, said Tammy Cox, Molden’s daughter.

Molden was a mother of five children anda grandmother of four.

Many of them gathered outside the home Tuesday night to console each other and search for answers.

"They took away a mother, a grandmother, they took away our life, she was our life, she was everything to us, said Cox.

Authorities are treating the case as a double-homicide. They do not believe it is a murder-suicide, as no gun was found at the scene. They also don't think it was a home invasion.

The GBI is assisting in the investigation
