Two DeKalb County police officers were arrested after they allegedly beat a handcuffed suspect on Tuesday.  Authorities are praising another patrolman who tued the officers in.

According DeKalb County Police Chief William O'Brien, Officers Blake Norwood and Arthur Parker had arrested a burglary suspect, identified as Travarrius B. Williams, 18, and were at the front of the police department processing building. There was an exhange of words with one of the officers and Williams allegedly got upset and spat on one of the officers.

O'Brien says the two officers put Williams, who was in handcuffs, in the back of a squad car. They then drove the vehicle behind the south precinct garage and took Williams out of the car. They then assaulted him by punching and kicking him while handcuffed.

Another officer came across the incident, saw the two officer beating the suspect and reported it to a supervisor.

O'Brien -- referring to the officer who reported the incident -- says that is what they expect their officers to do.

Norwood and Parker were questioned and then arrested. They face charges of battery and violating oath of office, a felony.

Williams is being treated for his injuries at Grady Medical Center.
