Three Accused of Impersonating Officers in Cobb County Home Invasion
Fake badges, real guns: Men accused of impersonating officers, holding woman against her will

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have identified three men accused of posing as Cobb County police officers during a violent home invasion in November.

Investigators say Darrius Hopkins, Destin Potter, and David Shepard are charged with home invasion, kidnapping, simple assault, impersonating a police officer, and other related offenses.

According to arrest warrants, the suspects allegedly wore vests resembling official police gear, displayed fake badges, carried real firearms, and presented what authorities described as a fraudulent search warrant.

Police said the men approached a woman in her driveway, showed her the fake warrant, and ordered her into her home. Once inside, investigators say the suspects held her against her will for more than an hour.

A neighbor of the victim, who declined to appear on camera, said he recalls a heavy police presence in the neighborhood after the incident unfolded.

“It’s a little unsettling knowing that an event like this happened in our community,” the neighbor said. “I came home to a large police presence and wasn’t sure what had happened.”

Authorities have not said why the home was targeted or whether anything was stolen.

Hopkins was arrested Wednesday. As of now, Potter and Shepard are not listed in local jail records.

All three suspects are Tennessee residents. Court documents show that Potter and Shepard have prior felony convictions.
