Texas senator Dan Patrick unintentionally endorses gay marriage in Twitter fail
A Texas senator opposed to gay marriage was left red-faced when he accidentally sent out a tweet endorsing it.
Republican Dan Patrick sent out the message to his 11,000 followers after a judge ruled the same-sex marriage ban in the deeply conservative state was ‘unconstitutional’.
We were told that they were coming to redefine marriage. Little did we know that 'they' was Dan Patrick pic.twitter.com/2JTVwoBaXc— Christopher Hooks (@cd_hooks) February 26, 2014
Many users on the micro-blogging site took screen grabs of the ‘ONE MAN & ONE MAN’ tweet fail as others retweeted it.
The 63-year-old quickly deleted the tweet and then went on to clarify his stance on gay marriage.
MARRIAGE= ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN. Enough of these activist judges. FAVORITE if you agree. I know the silent majority out there is with us!— Dan Patrick (@DanPatrick) February 26, 2014

I want to re-emphasize my long held position: Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. Period. Join us : http://t.co/8rERPM4IXE— Dan Patrick (@DanPatrick) February 26, 2014
Wednesday’s ruling prompted celebrations by gay marriage advocates over what could be their biggest victory yet in the US.
It follows similar recent decisions in Utah, Oklahoma and Virginia.
