A doctor from Tennessee has been arrested in northwest Georgia in a case that involves prescriptions for pain medication.

A statement from the Catoosa County, Ga., sheriff Tuesday said Dr. Norman Neal of Cleveland was arrested on 10 counts of signing blank prescriptions. The statement said other charges were pending.

Neal was being held on a $150,000 bond and a sheriff's department spokeswoman said he did not have an attoey. A telephone message left at Neal's office in rural southeaste Tennessee was not retued.

Records show Neal is a licensed doctor in Tennessee and Georgia.

Catoosa Sheriff Phil Summers said in the statement that Neal's clinic was searched and the doctor was arrested on charges that involve the illegal issuance of prescription pain medications.
