Teen Taylor Simpson arrested after 100 mph high-speed chase, rollover crash in Fayette County

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — A 17-year-old led Fayette County sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase that topped 100 mph before ending in a rollover crash, authorities said.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor Simpson was driving a stolen vehicle when deputies attempted to stop the car. Newnan police had issued a bulletin for the vehicle, which deputies located shortly afterward. When deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop, Simpson accelerated and fled.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed and rolled over. Authorities said Simpson was able to walk away from the wreck.

Simpson faces multiple traffic-related charges, including felony fleeing and attempting to elude and theft by receiving a stolen vehicle. The sheriff’s office said he does not have a driver’s license.

He is being held in the Fayette County Jail without bond.
