Teen Shot at Father's Day Celebration
Fulton County police say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly shot a teenager during a Father’s Day celebration at a home on Sunday.
Police say it happened Sunday night at a home on Crossrails Drive near Old National Highway in Fulton County. They say a group of people were gathered to celebrate Father’s Day when the 26-year-old man allegedly shot a 14-year-old boy.
Officers took the man, who has been identified by police as James Jallah, into custody. They say he is now charged with aggravated assault and child cruelty and possession of a firearm involved in a felony. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
”We believe that some type of argument led to the incident, said Cpl. Kay Lester of the Fulton County Police Department.
Police are still trying to sort out the details of what led to the argument. They say they believe the 14-year-old victim was among a group of children involved in the argument.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
Police say neither the victim nor Jallah live at the home where the shooting took place, and they were both visiting to take part in the Father’s Day festivities.
