Teacher Holly R. Whitfield, 22, has sex with 15-year-old student at River Quest School school for troubled children

A teacher at a school for troubled children has been accused of having sex with a teenage pupil.

Holly Whitfield, 22, a paraprofessional at River Quest school in Georgia, was charged with sexual assault and aggravated child molestation of a 15-year-old pupil, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

On Wednesday, April 28, 2011, the GBI was requested by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the investigation after allegations of a relationship between the pair surfaced.

She surrendered Thursday to authorities at the Burke County Jail.

Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues, the GBI said.

Gene Sullivan, the Executive Director of Central Savannah River Area Regional  Educational  Service Agency or,  CSRA RESA, told WRDW News that Whitfield has been relieved of her duties as soon as he discovered the allegations yesterday afteoon.

He said the school had contacted the DFACS Professional Standards Commission.

River Quest School is a multi-county school located in Burke County for students with behavioural and emotional problems.

Last week two teachers from the same school are facing jail for having sex with under age students.

Bethyl Shepherd, 34, Marie Fisher, 21, who worked in the same department, were arrested within weeks of each other after officials found out about their affairs.

Shepherd is accused of having a threesome with two 17-year-old's in her car while Fisher is charged with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy after sending him explicit text messages.

Both women worked in the Special Education Department at Reeds High School in Sparks, Nevada.

The arrest of Shepherd, who has been at the school since 2001, stunned officials still reeling from the allegations involving the youngest member of their staff.
