Suspicious Package in Atlanta Parking Garage Ruled Safe
Authorities say a suspicious package in downtown Atlanta that caused roads to be closed earlier in the moing has been ruled safe by authorities.
The package was discovered at 401 W. Peachtree Street NE across from the Peachtree Federal Summit Building. Police tell reporters it was found in the first floor of a parking garage under a vehicle.
The bomb squad was called in to investigate, authorities said. Police shut down a portion of Ivan Allen, Jr. Boulevard while the investigation was underway.
The package was ruled safe just before 11:30 a.m., and the scene has been cleared. Police tell reporters it was a package of paper that caused all of the commotion.
Less than a month ago, another suspicious package was found near the federal building, and that led to a full evacuation of the building. That package was also later found to be safe.
