Suspect Shot By Police After Chase

A suspected armed robber was shot by police early Thursday moing following a chase through several metro Atlanta counties. Cobb police said the police officer shot the suspect in the leg after the suspect reached for something in his pocket.

The chase began in Cobb County when a police officer was alerted to the alleged armed robber. Authorities said the officer saw the suspect get into a black SUV and attempted to stop the suspect. The suspect fled, which tued into a pursuit all the way into Atlanta and ended on Burton Road.

 

Authorities said the suspect abandoned his vehicle and ran away on foot. The officer chased the suspect on foot, upon which the officer saw the suspect reach for his pocket. The suspect was then shot by the police officer.

The suspect was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. No police officers suffered any injuries.
