AUBURN, GA  - Police say a suspect was eventually found in an attic after a standoff at a home located near Gladiola Drive and Carl Bethlehem Road in Barrow County on Monday.

Police say Joshua Smith was accused of driving a stolen car in Gwinnett County, which led to a pursuit that was picked up by police in Aubu, Ga, located northeast of Atlanta.

Smith hit a sign after driving to the Shadybrock subdivision, which is when he ran into a house, according to authorities.

Police say three people were in the home, who all allegedly knew Smith. All three people left the home when Smith arrived, according to authorities.

Police say they eventually shot tear gas into the house. After searching the home, Smith was found in the attic, according to authorities.
