Spalding Man Avery Edwin Strickland, Charged for Trying to Deceive Businesses

GRIFFIN, Ga. - Spalding County authorites have arrested man whom they say tried to deceive several businesses.

The Spalding County Sheriff's Office say they arrested Avery Edwin Strickland on numerous counts of Theft by Deception.

According to authorities, the sheriff's offiice was notified by some local businesses that Strickland had been writing checks for high dollar items such as chain saws, stereo equipment and other items.

Investigators say they have been able to recover most of the items and retu them to the business owners. Authorities say Strickland had just opened an account, received a check book and began

Strickland is charged with 11 counts of Theft by Deception with more charges pending, say authorities.

Authorities say that up to this point Strickland had purchased over $6,000 worth of merchandise.
