New father? Sensational claims have been made in the US that Simon Cowell is to become a father with New York socialite Lauren Silverman.

Simon Cowell has been rocked by a baby bombshell after it was claimed he is set to become a father for the first time after allegedly getting a friend’s wife pregnant.

New York socialite Lauren Silverman is said to be ‘ten weeks’ along with the TV mogul’s love child after the pair became close, US media claimed.

The 36-year-old alleged mother-to-be is still married to The X Factor boss’s close pal Andrew Silverman.

‘Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while,’ an insider told Us Magazine.

‘As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close.’

There is no suggestion that Cowell caused the break-up of the marriage or got close to Lauren while she was still in a relationship with her husband.

Cowell’s spokesman Max Clifford is yet to comment on the allegations and has reverted all calls on the ‘very sensitive issue’ to Si’s US legal team.

The pair were spotted in the back of his limo together after going to see The Mousetrap in the West End together in March. Their theatre date came after being spotted on holiday together in St Barts last summer.

Silverman draws a striking resemblance to his ex-fiancée, Afghan make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy.

It is understood Silverman’s marriage is over but she is yet to divorce Cowell’s friend.

Cowell, who is worth $340 million, recently changed his stance on having kids. He once vowed: ‘God, no. I couldn’t have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I’d go nuts.’

But recently he said he was coming round to the idea of mini-Cowells but was scared he missed his chance.

He said: ‘I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them. The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids. I’ve always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I’ve probably missed the opportunity.’
