Shots Fired at Gas Station; Man Dies

DeKalb County police are searching for the gunman who fired shots Saturday evening at a gas station in Decatur. A man was hit and killed by one of the bullets.

Police closed off the Chevron gas station at Candler road and Valley Ridge in DeKalb County while detectives investigate the shooting. The business was closed for hours on Saturday.

Witnesses said someone shot a man outside the gas station and fled the scene just before 6 p.m. on Saturday.

"I heard a commotion. As I tued I saw a young African American male take two shots," said witness Lugene Jackson.

Authorities closed off the station's parking lot, kept the witnesses for questioning and had police K-9 unit cover the area where the gunman fled.

"People were walking out the door. People stepping over this guy's body," said Jackson.

"I saw the body on the floor. I thougt he was sick, but no he's dead," said next door employee Mamadou Diallo.

So far, police have said they don't have a motive in the crime.
