Police say they are looking for a suspect after shots were fired at Atlanta police officers on Thursday, August 30

Police say they are looking for a suspect after shots were fired at Atlanta police officers on Thursday.

According to Atlanta police, officers attempted to stop and question a "suspicious" man riding a bicycle in the area of Princess Avenue at around 10 a.m. He did not cooperate, and fled on foot to the rear of a house. It was at that point officers heard a gunshot.

The officers took cover, and requested more units to the area, according to Atlanta police. No injuries have been reported.

They say a perimeter has been set up to look for the suspected shooter, with SWAT teams, helicopters and K-9 units assisting in the search.

Several streets in the area are closed while police look for the suspect. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

Police have not said why they were attempting to stop the man
