SCLC President Rev. Howard Creecy Jr Died Of Blunt Force Trauma
ATLANTA -- The president of the Southe Christian Leadership Conference died from blunt force trauma, the medical examiner ruled.
Investigators told Channel 2 that the Rev. Howard Creecy Jr. had a heart attack near the stairs and fell. They do not think his death is suspicious.
Thousands attended Creecy's recent funeral.
The civil rights leader was named president of the SCLC in January. Creecy was viewed as a leader who could move the 54-year-old SCLC forward.
"If you were happy, he made you happier while asking for nothing in retu," interim SCLC President Issac Newton Farris Jr. said.
He's credited with championing education, voting rights and AIDS awareness.
Creecy leaves behind a wife and two daughters. He was 57 years old.
