A 12-year-old allegedly kidnapped in North Carolina was found safe in Florida on Wednesday, according to Miami FOX affiliate WSVN.

The Carteret County Sheriff's Office said 12-year-old Abigale Faith Levers was kidnapped on Tuesday night by a known sex offender who was identified as 37-year-old Timothy Howard Newman. Georgia authorities had issued a statewide Levi's Call alert Wednesday afteoon for the girl.



According to the alert, Newman is a known sex offender in North Carolina who is also an experienced truck driver, and he is familiar with back roads and waterways.

Newman was arrested at a Denny's east of I-95 in Hallandale Beach, Fla., according to WSVN. Levers was safe with police.
