Recruit George Ward dies training to work at DeKalb County jail
A new recruit to the DeKalb County detention center died after getting sick during his second day on the job on Tuesday.
Officials said that George Ward was ill during his moing physical fitness training session and was taken to DeKalb Medical Center.
The 29-year-old was one of 12 recruits doing the mandatory fitness assessment.
Sheriff Thomas Brown says this is the first time something like this has ever happened during his 12 years on the job.
