Atlanta-based rapper Waka Flocka Flame was arrested Friday for allegedly having a handgun inside his carry-on bag at the airport, according to police.

The weapon was located in a domestic checkpoint lane at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Inteational Airport, Officer Ralph Woolfolk with Atlanta police said.

The rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, did not have a weapons permit, Woolfolk said. Malphurs, 28, of McDonough, was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in a prohibited place, according to police.

Waka was transported to the Clayton County jail, where he was awaiting a bond hearing Friday afteoon, records showed.

The rapper and his wife, Tammy Rivera, are currently starring on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
