CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The family of a murdered teen says they are happy it will be a long time before a Hurricane Katrina evacuee, convicted of killing their loved one, gets out of prison.

Dominic Stacey, 22, received a life sentence plus 40 years in a Clayton County courtroom on Thursday. Stacey was convicted in the 2006 murder of 19-year-old Andrew Gibby.

The victim's brother told Channel 2’s GA Daily News that Stacey showed no remorse during his trial and should never walk the streets again.

"I kill an ant,and I feel sorry. I feel bad, you know, and this guy can shoot somebody and have no sympathy," Chris Gibby said.

Prosecutors say Stacey shot Gibby because he wanted his 22 inch car rims. Police said Stacey and his co-defendant Joseph Dedeaux, arranged to meet Gibby behind the Publix in Lovejoy to steal his Oldsmobile Cutlass and the 22-inch rims on it.

Stacey opened fire, hitting Gibby in the face and neck and killing him, and wounding his passenger.

In court before sentencing, the judge asked Stacey if he had anything to say. "No. I ain't got nothing to say."

Gibby's brother said Stacey took away someone who wanted to be the best in life.

"When he passed, I found this paper. He wanted to score 1,500 on the SAT. That just shows you what kind of mind frame we were dealing with on goals he wanted to have," Chris Gibby said.

Dedeaux pleaded guilty and received a 20-year prison sentence. He must serve minimum 15-years in prison.
