Polls Set to Open for Super Tuesday
With 76 delegates at stake, Georgia is the biggest super Tuesday prize. Which is why we've seen so much of the candidates in the last couple of days.
No candidate has more at stake and more invested in the Georgia primary than Newt Gingrich. The former speaker of the house has spent days here over the last couple of weeks.
Pundits say if he can't win the state he represented in congress for 20 years his candidacy could be over.
Recently Gingrich has staked his hopes in Georgia on claims of bringing high gas prices down to $2.50
With Gingrich leading in the local polls, the battle in Georgia could come down to second place.
Both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum visited the state in the week before the primary. During a stop, Romney told FOX 5 he expects to do well here.
Santorum has come to Georgia in the last couple of weeks. Win or lose in Georgia, he's in the battle for the Republican nomination for the long haul.
The only candidate who hasn't come to Georgia is Ron Paul. He's putting his efforts in caucuses, hoping to rack up delegates.
Polls throughout the state open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
