Police: Teen Dakota Waters killed in pedestrian accident

Gwinnett County police say a 17-year-old was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday moing while trying to cross Lawrenceville Highway.

Police say Dakota Waters was crossing the highway between Hamilton Road and James Road at around 7:30 a.m.  They say Waters was standing in a center tu lane outside a crosswalk when he washit by a black 2007 Land Rover as it was attempting to make a left tu onto James Road.

Waters was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, and later died of his injuries.

Police say the driver of the Land Rover, 49-year-old Sharen Golden, has not been charged and the accident remains under investigation.
