Police Source: Dunwoody Day Care Killing Suspect Knew Victim

DUNWOODY, Ga. -- Nearly seven weeks since the tragedy, Dunwoody police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting death of a man outside a Dunwoody day care and preschool.

At a Tuesday night news conference, Dunwoody police Sgt. Michael Carlson announced that an arrest was made in the case. Carlson e-mailed GA Daily News a picture of the suspect, Hemy Zvi Neuman, 48, of Buckhead. Neuman is a father of three, a Georgia Tech graduate and works at General Electric, according to his Facebook page.

Officers didn't go into detail about the arrest, saying it might jeopardize the investigation, but a police source has confirmed to Channel 2’s Linda Stouffer that Neuman knew the victim, Rusty Sneiderman.

Sneiderman, a 36-year-old father of two, was gunned down Nov. 18 after dropping his 2-year-old child off at Dunwoody Prep.

One week before his death, police said that Sneiderman had called police to report a suspicious person behind his house.

Police said Neuman is being held at the DeKalb County Jail without bond. He is charged with murder.

Police did not specify how Neuman and Sneiderman knew each other, but said their relationship was personal in nature.

Neuman’s neighbors said they were stunned that Neuman, a family man, was charged with murder.

”It’s very shocking, totally not the kind you can imagine would do something like that at all, neighbor Dinesh Chaudhry said.
