Police Seek Remains of Dismembered Mercer Law Grad Lauren Giddings
Macon police have identified a body found in the city as that of missing Mercer Law School graduate Lauren Giddings.

MACON, Ga. - The slaying of a recent law school graduate in middle Georgia has Macon police not only searching for her killer, but also asking the public for help recovering missing parts of the victim's dismembered remains.

It took nearly a week for police to confirm the body was that of 27-year-old Lauren Giddings. DNA tests were needed to identify her. Her father on Thursday called the slaying "a nightmare."

Macon Police Chief Mike Bus is asking residents to report foul odors that may lead to the woman's remains. Giddings' body was found outside her apartment June 30 hours after she was reported missing.

Giddings graduated from Mercer University Law School in May. Police say her next-door neighbor, who is a fellow law student, is one of several persons of interest.
