Cobb County firefighter Lt. Joseph Bennett has been placed on unpaid administrative leave for allegedly beating his wife.

Cobb County police arrested a firefighter accused of beating up his wife.

Investigators say Lt. Joseph Bennett is charged with aggravated battery. A police report says Bennett threw his wife to the floor multiple times early Sunday at the Omni Hotel in downtown Atlanta.

Police say one time, he grabbed the back of her head and slammed her down face-first, breaking her nose. Police say Bennett's wife is legally blind.

Cobb County fire officials say Bennett has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
