Clayton County authorities say they have fired an officer for recording himself performing a sex act in his patrol unit and sending it to women.

Police Chief Mike Register told reporters that Officer Joshua Nicholson behavior won't be tolerated.

”This was at the level that he needed to be terminated, Register said.

Nicholson is out of a job after police received an anonymous tip that he was taking pictures and videos of himself on duty, in his uniform, and in his patrol car involved in a sex act.

Police say he also visited adult websites to meet and text women while he was on duty.

”He took full responsibility, Register said.

After an inteal investigation, police say Nicholson didn’t deny the allegations.

Nicholson was fired for conduct unbecoming of an officer and disgraceful conduct.

Clayton County citizens say the chief made the right to decision.

”From where I sit he should be fired, one citizen said.  ”He needs someone to pray over him.

The chief wants the public to know their trust in him and his officers is very important.

”I'm not going to tolerate an officer violating that public trust, Register said.

The sexting incident comes right after Register asked all police personnel to follow these four simple rules:

  • Treat everyone with respect.
  • See a problem as an opportunity to find a solution.
  • Be a positive representative on and off duty.
  • Serve the community as you would want your family member to be served.
