Police arrested a student who they said brought a knife with an 8-inch blade to a Cobb County high school.

Lonnie Treaudo Benn, 17, was arrested on Thursday at South Cobb High School in Austell.

A school official told police he smelled smoke coming from a boy’s restroom and went to investigate. The school official searched Benn and found the knife inside his book bag, according to the warrant.

Benn was charged with carrying weapons within a school safety zone, a felony, and released on $5,000 bond.
