The two men who opened fire on two DeKalb County police officers have been identified.

Police said Eddie Ball, 39, and Ivy Shumake, 37, were arrested after a shootout with DeKalb County police on Friday moing that resulted in two officers being hospitalized.

Police were called to Colony Ridge Apartments on High Court Place for a report of a home invasion style armed robbery. When police arrived, they were immediately fired upon.

Two officers, Devon Perry, 29, and Tony Luong, 26, were shot. They retued fire, hitting both suspects.

Perry was shot in the calf. He was treated and released. Luong was shot in the thigh. He was taken into surgery.

Both Ball and Shumake are still in the hospital. Ball is listed as critical. Shumake is listed as stable.

They are both charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
