GARDEN CITY, Ga. - A Georgia police department has charged an evidence clerk with stealing money from her employer.

Police in Garden City, west of Savannah, said Tuesday that Delores Ann Norris has been charged with theft of about $50,000 that courts had awarded the department from drug cases.

Garden City Police Chief David Lyons says he ordered an inteal investigation about four months ago after employees noticed money appeared to be missing.

Norris resigned from her job in October after working for the police department for eight years.
