Police: Charles Boyer's I.D. And Cell Phone Found In Stolen SUV
ATLANTA -- Atlanta police just wrapped up a news conference moments ago with new information on the case.
Police announced they found the ID and cell phone belonging to Charles Boyer, in a stolen SUV found last week at a MARTA parking lot.
The suspect from the carjacking is in custody and charges will come soon.
Police said they found the SUV in the East Point MARTA parking lot by using GPS tracking.
They said they watched it oveight, but when no one came back to it by Thursday moing, they impounded it. Police said the SUV was stolen from Greenview Avenue on Saturday. It will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for processing.
On Wednesday, the family of Charles Boyer asked the community to help police solve the case.
Ann Boyer said the senseless killing of her son has destroyed her family.
"We lost him oveight," she said. "Family members saw him Sunday."
Atlanta police said a group of masked men shot and killed Charles Boyer in a robbery Monday night at the Virginia Highlands Apartments.
Boyer was entering his girlfriend's apartment when the violent robbers approached.
Police said the robbers only got away with the woman's purse and Boyer's cell phone.
A tearful Ann Boyer said, "I have to prepare funeral service at this time. Please, people, if you know who did this terrible crime, please volunteer, call authorities right away."
Patricia Pridmore said her brother graduated from Georgia Tech.
"I graduate from nursing school in a few years and he won't be there to see it because somebody did this to him," Pridmore said. "It's unbelievable."
Pridmore described her brother as kind and quiet.
Boyer's family is asking anyone with information about the killing to call police.
Investigators have not made any arrests in the case.
