Gwinnett County police say they have charged a man in a series of incidents in Peachtree Coers. They say Kennedy Miranda, 37, is facing charges of attempted kidnapping and public indecency.

They say Miranda tried to abduct a 20-year-old woman at a Baes & Noble, located in The Forum off Peachtree Parkway, at around 4:55 p.m. on Sunday.

According to police, the woman says she was looking at magazines when a man grabbed her arm and said "come with me" and told her she was "the one." Miranda started dragging the woman to the front door when she started hitting the man and screamed for help.

They say a male customer intervened and pushed Miranda away from the woman.

Police say Miranda retued to the Forum on Tuesday, June 19 and approached several women, making comments about having sexual relations with them. Later the same day, police say he also exposed himself on East Jones Bridge Road and Wentworth Drive.

According to police, Miranda was arrested for disorderly conduct and providing a false name by Dunwoody police during an incident at Perimeter Mall Tuesday evening. The circumstances leading to Miranda's arrest are not known.

"Based on the time frame and the location of the incidents, and what he was doing, we want to get him as soon as possible before something bad happened. And fortunately, people intervened or got involved with it and prevented anything else from happening to these victims that were out there," said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter.

Miranda is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail. Gwinnett County police say they expect him to be transferred into their custody soon.
