Police Arrest Danny Kirtz In Cabbie Shooting Death
The East Point police department identified 19-year-old Danny Kirtz as a person of interest in the Aug. 7 shooting of Day and Night taxi driver Jacke Rainey.

EAST POINT, Ga. -- Investigators say they have made an arrest after a cab driver was found fatally shot last weekend.

East Point police said they arrested Danny Kirtz, 19, and charged him in the death of Day and Night taxi cab driver Jack Rainey.

Rainey was found dead inside his cab near Oak Knoll Elementary School August 7.

One of Rainey’s co-workers told Channel 2’s Tony Thomas that Rainey called in on his radio early that moing, saying he'd been shot. Then no one could reach him.

As police scoured the south side of Atlanta looking for his blue and gray cab, a woman walking her dog near the school, spotted his car with Rainey dead inside, investigators said.

After several days of investigating, East Point police said they were able to track down Kirtz and arrest him.

Kirtz has been charged with murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.
