Police arrest Charmane Goins after woman's burned body found in October

A man has been arrested after a woman's body was found bued in a Gwinnett County park on October 7.

Police said a couple found the body of Lauren Taylor, 26, of Dalton, Georgia, on a walking trail at DeShong Park in Stone Mountain.

Detectives have been investigating the case as a homicide since the discovery of Taylor's body, but her death was ruled a homicide until December 18.

During the investigation, Gwinnett County detectives developed reason to suspect Charmane Demetrius Goins, 37, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia.

Police said Goins had an extramarital romantic relationship with Taylor.

Detectives obtained warrants against Goins for malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault.

He was arrested by the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office without incident and was taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center where he remains in custody without bond.
