Passenger: Man Robs, Roughs Up Bus Full Of People
ATLANTA -- Police are looking for the man who robbed a bus full of passengers Thursday moing.
”He just got on and was just waiting, and it was early in the moing, said Leola Harris, who rides the same line that the robbery took place on. Investigators said the man got on a MARTA bus at about 5:35 a.m. with a bunch of other passengers on Cambelton Road.
”They robbed all the passengers, asked them for $20. Everybody got nervous. One woman got hit in her face, Harris said.
”It’s scary. It’s scary cause you can’t ride the bus without getting robbed. That’s messed up, said Delores Wilson, who also uses the MARTA line.
MARTA police investigators told Channel 2’s Erin Coleman the man is armed and dangerous and needs to be taken off the streets immediately, but they need the public’s help.
”Obviously this person has no respect for other people. Again, that’s why we consider him very dangerous and we need the public’s assistance in bringing this guy to justice, MARTA Detective Lorenzo Whitestone said.
Police describe the robber as a man in his 30s or 40s, about 6 feet tall with facial hair, last seen running west on Cambelton Road. MARTA police have released a sketch of the man they believe is behind the robberies. Police are asking that anyone with information about the man to call MARTA police at 404-848-4911.
