Parents Voice Concerns at Atlanta School Board Meeting

ATLANTA, Ga. - Parents and teachers tued out at the monthly Atlanta School Board meeting on Monday night to voice conces over problems with the system. Between the legal probe into cheating on CRCT tests and the infighting on the board that put accreditation at risk, some parents say they’ve very worried about their children’s education.

 

Many had tough words for school board members at Monday night’s meeting.

 

”The bottom line for me is that your actions collectively threaten my child’s education and I have a problem with that, said one parent.

 

Earlier in the day, the Conceed Black Clergy—a group of 150 churches—also spoke out about the investigation into cheating on standardized tests in Atlanta Public Schools. The cheating probe is now in the hands of the Fulton County district attoey, who is looking into possible criminal prosecution of some teachers.

 

The head of the Atlanta Association of Educators also says he’s conceed about the investigation.

 

Parents questioned the board about the inteal fighting that has put the county’s accreditation at risk.

 

”I absolutely will not allow my daughter not to be able to graduate from an accredited high school, said another conceed parent.

 

But board President Khattem Shereer El refused to speak with reporters about any of it at Monday night’s meeting.

Conceed Black Clergy tells Georgia Newsday that District Attoey Paul Howard has agreed to meet with them about their conces into the CRCT probe next week.
