An officer opened fire on a teenager at a football game in southeast Atlanta on Friday night.

The shooting occurred at Lakewood Stadium, which is at 70 Claire Drive SE.

According to a spokesperson with Atlanta police, a fight broke out between hundreds of students at the game, which was between Mays and Carver.

Someone shot a gun in the crowd, which is when the officer retued fire, striking a 17-year-old male. Police said the teenager was armed.

The teen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police on Saturday identified him as Eugene Brantley. He is a student at Mays.

The Atlanta Public Schools have canceled or moved all games that were scheduled to be played at Lakewood on Saturday.
